\ ˈhich \  verb : the act or fact of catching hold

I do not know where the trail ends
riding the rear of the wagon train
I cannot see past canvas moons
coughing clumps of trotted dust  
I cannot breathe among the brays
behind horse and master
following where others lead.

I turn and hitch my hope
away from wheel ruts
​I uncover my wagon bed
far from lagging mule tongues
I seek a different path
among the clouds
following new stars
not knowing
          where

     the trail ends.
